Going up in the world? Try a wine that's fit for first class

The Sunday Times

Will Lyons

After a recent long haul trip back from San Francisco on a BA A380 Will Lyons advises his readers on what wines to drink at 35,000ft. He explains that "The trick is to look for fruity wine with bold, expressive and ripe flavours."  He recommends Sémillon for whites and Malbec for reds and that "Champagne should have plenty of upfront, fruity character and a generous, yeasty mouth-feel."  He goes on to review Champagne Castelnau Brut Reserve NV which is currently served on BA Club World in 75cl bottles and in BA Club Europe in quarter bottles.

Champagne Castelnau Brut Reserve NV:
"If you're flying on British Airways and lucky enough to be handed a glass of Champagne before take-off it will probably be this. A first sip reveals plenty of fruity notes and lively acidity, but there is enough yeasty flavour to withstand the pressurised cabin."

Champagne Castelnau Brut Reserve NV is available to buy at The Wine Society, Amazon and some independent wine retailers.
