Orange is the new red: Malat - June 2019

The Metro recently ran a feature on the growth in orange wine. They mentioned a lesser known wine by Malat called ‘On the QT’ Bin 9: Gruner Veltliner fermented on skins.

They encouraged their readers to "Forget everything you know about Austrian Gruner Veltliner: there’s no lean, lime-zest finesse here. Skin contact has turbo-charged this white, injected it with caramelised apples and given it a teasing salinity on the finish. Located on the bank of the Danube river, Michael Malat has been producing wine since 1722 (his family, not his personally). With only a small amount of skin contact, this a soft landing for first-time orange wine imbibers."
