Wicks Estate Wines is family owned and operated by co-founders Tim and Simon Wicks. The Estate produces hand crafted wine from their vineyard located at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills, one of Australia’s premier cool climate wine growing regions. The Wicks family has a long history in agriculture that started with an Orchard and Nursery at Highbury. In late 1999, they purchased the 54 hectare property at Woodside for its suitability for premium wine grape production. The vineyard, planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon
was designed around the gentle undulating slopes studded with a number of ancient red gums and the Inverbrackie Creek that winds its course through the length of the property.
The Wicks winemaking team is led by Leigh Ratzmer. Leigh graduated from Oenology at Adelaide University and gained experience working with premium producers Loimer and Thierry-Weber in Austria and Torbreck in the Barossa Valley. He then joined Wicks for their first commercial vintage in 2004. He is driven to produce high quality estate grown wines of exceptional regional character and excellent value. The winery itself is ‘state of the art’ and situated amongst the vines. This facility, combined with the experienced winemaking team, has widely positioned the Wicks Estate portfolio as one of Adelaide Hill’s finest wine producers.
